SDM among three held for corruption

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested three persons for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.80 lakh from a club owner.
The investigating agency registered a case against two accused under Section 120-B of the IPC and Section 8 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, based on a complaint received from the owner of a club situated at a mall in Pitampura.
The complainant alleged that the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Saraswati Vihar had sealed the said club. The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs. three lakh on behalf of the SDM to getting the complainant's club reopened. After negotiation, the bribe was reduced.
"CBI laid a trap and caught the two accused, alongwith one more person while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.80 lakh from the complainant," said a CBI official on Saturday.
