Schoolgirl killed in road accident

NEW DELHI: An eight-year-old girl was killed while her sister sustained severe injuries after they were hit by a speeding Eicher in Delhi's Govindpuri, in South East Delhi. On Saturday, a PCR call at 1.46 pm regarding road traffic accident was received at Govindpuri.

During enquiry, it was found that two girls returning from school were hit by a mini truck Eicher and got injured at Ravidas Marg, near DDA red light. The injured girls were immediately shifted to HAH Centenary jamia Hamdard Hospital where one girl Sandhya (8), resident of Balmiki Mohallah, Tuglakabad Village, Delhi and student of class 2 in govt Sr Sec school Devli was declared brought dead and her elder sister Kamni (14), student of 8th class in the same school is under treatment. The dead body of deceased was shifted to AIIMS mortuary.

"The truck was seized while driver ran away after dropping injured to hospital. In this regard, case FIR No. 27/18, U/s 279/337/304-A IPC has been registered. The investigation is underway," said DCP South East Chinmoy Biswal.
