School vandalised after 4-yr-old sexually assaulted
New Delhi: Locals vandalised a private school after allegations that a 4-year-old girl was sexually assaulted inside the school premises in Ranhola in Outer District.
The locals gheraoed and ransacked the school for hours after they alleged that the principal of the school took the matter lightly. The situation was brought under control only after the local police intervened.
According to the police, parents of a four-year-old girl have filed a complaint alleging their daughter was 'inappropriately touched' by someone in the school. The family alleged that when they approached the school authorities, the principal took the matter too casually and asked them to come some other time. This irked the family and when they informed their friends in the locality, women and men gathered who vandalised the school smashing the doors and windows with sticks.
"When the girl returned from the school, she complained of acute pain in the stomach. After her mother checked her she was found to be bleeding from her private parts. She informed the girl's father. When we complained to the principal of the school, he misbehaved with us and asked us to come at some different time," said a relative of the victim child.
As soon as the police were informed, they immediately rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protestors who had gathered at the school in large numbers. After the police assured appropriate action, the mob dispersed. "On Wednesday evening, a complaint was received at Ranhola where the mother of the girl stated that her daughter was inappropriately touched by another 4-year-old student or may be by another person. A case under section 6 of POCSO has been registered at Ranhola on December 5," said Seju Kuruvilla, DCP, Outer Delhi. Police is now conducting an inquiry and is questioning the school authorities.
A case similar in nature was reported in November last year from a private school in Dwarka in which a four-year-old boy was booked for sexually assaulting his classmate with his finger and a pencil. The case came to light after the minor broke down and told her mother about the incident. The girl said the boy used a sharpened pencil to assault her.
