Safety audit to be conducted in Gurugram private schools

Gurugram: Emphasising that security of students within school premises is of paramount importance, Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh has constituted a team of officials to conduct the second round of safety audit of private schools.
The surveillance process is expected to begin in the second week of April.
Lapses in the security for school students were exposed after a class II student was murdered in the washroom of a private school in Gurugram's Bhondsi area last year.
The investigation later revealed that the school management had compromised on various safety guidelines. To ensure the safety of 1,200 students studying in the school the school management was taken over by the DC office.
The new management of the school, under the supervsion of the Gurugram deputy commissioner had installed 40 CCTV cameras, replaced the security agency in charge of the school, recruited women bus conductors and built the boundary wall.
