'Safe city project of Delhi Police': Details sought from officers

New Delhi: For the implementation of 'Safe City Project of Delhi Police', details like locations for installation of CCTV cameras, structure for the establishment of command & control centre, were sought by city police from its officers.

Police sources told Millennium Post that a meeting of Safe City Steering Committee was held in the first week of September under the chairmanship of Special Commissioner of Police rank officer. More than 20 senior officials including DCsP and Additional DCsP were present.

Sources revealed that Special CP informed all the members that the project is monitored by a high-level committee formed by Government of India. Therefore all-district DCsP must take note of that and ensure to furnish the information within the time specified by the Safe City Project office/PCR.

Sources said that an Additional CP rank officer informed all the members that the competent authority has accorded approval for engagement of C-DAC, Pune as a total service provider for implementation of Safe City Project of Delhi Police. Accordingly, the Safe City Project office/PCR has initiated the process to award work order to C-DAC to start with the exercise for implementation of the project.

" It is expected that C-DAC teams will be formed by the last week of September or first week of October 2019 to start the survey in all districts to prepare an implementation plan. Therefore it becomes imperative for Delhi Police to be ready with information to share with C-DAC teams so that least time consumed in preparing the implementation plan, " Additional CP told other officers.

Sources added that officers were told to identify the suitable covered pucca structure for the establishment of the command & control centre in each district, railways headquarters and each police station.

"Identify locations for the installation of CCTV cameras in the jurisdiction of each police station, "senior officers were further told. Few criteria were given for identification and finalization of location for installation of CCTV cameras.
