Ryan case: Confusion over murder weapon

Gurugram: The gruesome murder of Class II student Pradyuman Thakur in the washroom of Ryan International School was felt to be an open and shut case with the arrest of bus conductor Ashok Kumar.

However, six days after the horrific crime was committed, various complexities are now emerging in the case. Adding to the list of challenges is the post mortem report that has raised the questions over the knife used for killing the seven-year-old.
The medical reports highlight that the knife had not been used regularly. It thereby debunks the earlier proposition that the knife used to be stored in the tool kit of the school bus.
Bus driver Saurav who was a colleague of Ashok also had rejected the claims that there was a presence of any sharp weapon in the vehicle.
Claiming that it has not been a spontaneous act and there is what more that meets the eye, parents of the deceased child have been demanding the inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
On the need of CBI probe in the case, Barun Thakur, father of Pradyuman had earlier stated, "My son was murdered in the time span of 10 minutes. It does not surely look to be a spontaneous act and there may be a possibility of it being a pre- planned attack. I do not doubt the credibility of Gurugram police but I request a parallel probe by CBI in this case."
Meanwhile, the Gurugram police are also leaving no stone unturned towards gathering vital evidences in the case.
Having sought duration of seven days to complete its investigation last Saturday, it is now left with two more days to file the charge sheet.
On Wednesday, a team of senior police officials from Gurugram along with the forensic team was at Ryan International School to carry forward their investigation process. A special team from Rohtak has been called in to help their counterparts in the probe.
Moreover, the DNA samples of the murder accused has been sent for examination at the forensic laboratory in Karnal, Haryana. While the two branches of Ryan International School in Sectors 31 and 40 have opened, hectic investigations have resulted in its branch in Bhondsi being closed for two more days.
