RTV hits boy, violent mob torches vehicle

NEW DELHI: An angry mob on Tuesday burnt a RTV that hit a bike and injured15-year-old boy in north east Delhi's Bhajanpura.
The accident occurred in morning near the Maujpur road where the RTV driver was accused of driving rash and running over the bike. The boy suffered a fracture after the collision.
Following the accident, a thick crowd gathered at the spot and on seeing the condition of the boy became violent. As the boy was rushed to the hospital for treatment and the cops were informed, some of the people torched the RTV. Sensing trouble, the driver managed to run away from of the spot.
The burning RTV stood in the middle of the road until the fire tenders arrived. As the cops were informed, several teams from the Bhajanpura and nearby police stations rushed to the spot and secured the area.It took time for the cops to pacify the mob and control the situation.
"Some people have torched the vehicle after a boy on the bike was hit by the RTV. We have registered a case and are investigating," said a police officer.
The condition of the boy is said to be critical and has been shifted to AIIMS for treatment. He has received several injuries on his body including a fracture.
The burning RTV created a traffic jam on the stretch for sometime till the cops from Bhajanpura and adjoining police station controlled the situation and moved the public from the scene of the accident.
"We have registered two separate cases in the incident, one against the driver for rash driving and another for rioting. We will soon arrest the accused," said a police officer.
