Rs 4 lakh robbed from gas godown in Gurugram

Gurugram: The brazen incidents of daylight robberies do not seem to cease in Gurugram. Another such incident occurred at a Sheetla Mata gas godown in old Gurugram where three to four armed criminals robbed Rs 4 lakh from the cashier at gunpoint. According to the police, the robbers struck at around noon where they threatened the cashier with their guns and decamped with Rs 4.18 lakh. The police are now trying to catch the robbers by scanning the CCTV footages.
Shockingly, the incident occurred at the busy area during the rush hour. While daylight robbery is one of the major law and order challenges on the outskirt areas of Gurugram, as time and again such incidents are reported in the city. In February this year, a group of seven criminals committed a heist in which they made away with over 32 kilograms of gold from a private gold finance company in New Railway road. They were later arrested by the Gurugram police.
Not only in commercial centres but daylight robbery has witnessed upward trend in the residential areas as well. "Robberies have been a major law and order problem in the city. However the biggest concern is most of these criminals are targeting houses even in the day time and are also successful in their attempt. Ironically, these people are not only targeting wealthy houses but they eve strike the middle classes people," said Ranjit Dhawan, a city resident.
