NEW DELHI: Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday approved the proposal of setting up a sports complex at Najafgarh in outer Delhi, at an estimated cost of Rs 122 crore.
The complex will be developed at Najafgarh's Kair village and have modern facilities for sports including cricket, football, basketball, athletics, tennis and swimming. It will be spread over 18 acre and equipped with world class facilities.
FIFA had already approved the completed football stadium at the upcoming sports complex as a certified venue for hosting international matches, during its inspection of the stadium in November.
After the football Stadium, now the cricket Stadium is nearing completion.
In the first phase, international-level facilities for athletics, tennis, basketball and swimming are scheduled to be completed within six months.
The government aims to finish the entire sports complex within 18 months.
