Rohini encounter: Five members including one juvenile of Neeraj Bawania gang held

New Delhi: Three dreaded gangsters of Neeraj Bawania gang received gunshot injuries when they tried to flee during an encounter by Delhi Police special Cell in Rohini district early morning on Monday.

Two policemen were also hit on their bullet proof vests by the criminals. Four active members of the Neeraj Bawania gang have been arrested after the gunbattle while a juvenile has been apprehended.

Rajesh Bawania gang and Neeraj Bawania gang are infamous rival gangs. They are indulged in extorting money from business persons, property dealers, builders etc. Both the gang leaders along with some of their active associates have already been arrested under MCOCA cases and are running in judicial custody.

Now the gang leaders get their nefarious designs executed through their absconding members or supporters.

Police said that on February 1, daylight murder took place near Mann Public School, Narela.

In this incident, 4 accused persons and the juvenile conducted a recce of Vikas Chauhan residence of Bajitpur, Delhi who was waiting in an EECO Van outside the Mann Public School, Narela while the two arrested accused persons Sunil and Sukhwinder had fired on Vikas and killed him.

In another incident,on January 20, the same group had killed one Mohit near Lohia Camp, Haidarpur, PS Shalimar Bagh, Delhi. The cause of these murders by gang members is related to the ongoing rivalry between Neeraj Bawania and Rajesh Bawania gang.

At about 5 am one black colour car was seen coming from the KN Katju Marg side. The car was signalled to stop but the car driver further accelerated and tried to run away but the police team chased and blocked that vehicle. To this, the car driver lost his control and car rammed into the divider.

Five persons equipped with weapons got down from the car. On being warned to surrender, they started indiscriminately firing aiming at the Police team.

Their bullets hit bullet-proof jackets of HC Bharat and Ct. Manjit.

The police team also retaliated in self-defence to deter the criminals from absconding.

"During cross firing, three criminals Sunil, Sukhvinder, Arpit Chillar sustained bullet injuries on their legs while Ravinder and one juvenile were arrested without any injuries," said DCP Special Cell Sanjeev Yadav.
