Robber beaten to death after scuffle
NEW DELHI: A 26-year-old man who had 17 cases against him including snatching, robbery, Arms Act was beaten to death by a family after he got into a scuffle with them over open urination.
The deceased identified as Sanjay alias Lilu started thrashing a 65-year-old man Man Singh allegedly for openly urinating near Nehru Camp jhuggi.
This enraged the family members of Man Singh and soon they too got into a scuffle with him on Sunday midnight.
They thrashed Leelu near the jhuggi. In the meantime, Man Singh's sons came there in defence of their father and Man Singh's son Ravi assaulted Leelu with a cement slab which hit him on his chest and he got injured.
He was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead.
Police was soon informed about the incident.
"Deceased Leelu (27) is previously involved in 17 cases of snatching, robbery, hurt and Arms Act. The first case is of the year 2009 of Arms Act and the last case is of 2017 of theft and snatching. The involvements are from the area of Govindpuri and Okhla," said DCP South East Chinmoy Biswal.
