New Delhi: As part of the Railways' Swarn project, Indian Railways has upgraded its Amritsar Swarn Shatabdi to gold standard from Saturday onwards. Following this, all 18 coaches of the train will have upgraded interiors and exteriors and the amenities will give the passengers a more pleasant experience than ever before.
The "Swarn" coaches of Amritsar Swarn Shatabdi have been upgraded with improved exteriors of vinyl wrapping. Shelves have been fitted in the pantry area for better storage space. An anti-scratch film has been put on the luggage rack panel. LED lighting to improve illumination and GPS-enabled passenger announcement and information system have been fitted in the train.
Commenting on the development, Northern Railways General Manager Vishwesh Chaube said that under Swarn project, special emphasis is being given to upgradation of passenger amenities and aesthetics.
"The upgraded Swarn Shatabdi train between New Delhi and Amritsar with 'Swarn' coaches is the 2nd such rake as the first such train was Kathgodam Shatabdi. It would be pressed into service from Saturday by the Delhi division and up-gradation works on 11 Shatabdi and 5 Rajdhani trains would be completed by August," said RN Singh, the Divisional Railway Manager, Delhi.
Singh said that in future, NR has planned to provide CCTV and GPS-based passenger information system in all Shatabdi/Rajdhani trains.
