Reshuffle in Delhi Cabinet, Gahlot gets environment portfolio
NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is on Monday did a reshuffle of the Delhi Cabinet. Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot got the portfolio of Environment and Forest Department. Former Environment Minister Imran Hussain will stay as Minister of Food and Supply Department.
According to the sources of Delhi government the Chief Minister wanted to strengthen and to make Transport and Environment Department work together therefore CM Kejriwal took the decision. In the last few months keeping in mind the air-pollution the situation of Delhi. The Transport Department has come up with various new initiatives like electric public vehicle policy and electric buses. All these steps were targeted to combating the air-pollution of Delhi. According to sources on an emergency meeting held at Delhi secretariat under the leadership of CM Kejriwal, the Chief Minister announced this decision.
Kailash Gahlot till now was the transport minister and also the minister of law department of Delhi and a member of the Sixth Legislative Assembly of Delhi in India. He represents the Najafgarh constituency of New Delhi and is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party political party. He also has departments like the Revenue, Administrative Reforms, Information &Technology, Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs.
