Relief likely from heat wave conditions after June 12
NEW DELHI: Delhi and its adjoining areas of Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad are going to experience the third episode of heat wave conditions during the coming days. The reason for this has been attributed to winds blowing over the region that has changed and become southerly/southwesterly, which are coming from Pakistan and Rajasthan area where temperatures are already very high.
"Therefore, now we expect heatwave conditions to make a comeback over parts of the National Capital Region including Safdarjung in the next 24 to 48 hours," noted Skymet Weather forecasters.
However, this heat wave spell will be short lived as by June 12, rain and thundershower activities accompanied by dust storm are likely over parts of Delhi and NCR. These rains will occur in association with a Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and its induced cyclonic circulation over parts of northwestern plains. "Moreover, a low-pressure area that is expected to intensify further will move along the west coast i.e. from Southeast Arabian Sea to the Northwest Arabian Sea. Due to this, humid southwesterly winds will also reach up to Delhi and NCR area. Thus, the increase in humidity and high temperatures will result in thundercloud development and subsequent rainfall," noted Skymet.
These weather activities will continue over the National Capital Region till June 14 or 15. Thereafter, also pre-Monsoon weather activities will not subside and with a gap of one or two days, another spell of rain and thundershower activities will occur over Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. "Thus, we can say that after June 12 heat wave conditions may not make a comeback and on and off rains will keep the temperatures under check," Skymet said.
