Red Line's extension to new Bus Adda Gzb to be operational soon

New Delhi: The extension of Delhi Metro's Rithala-Dilshad Garden Red Line to Ghaziabad's New Bus Adda, as part of Delhi Metro Phase 3 project is likely to open soon as commissioner for metro rail safety, SK Pathak carried out inspection on 9.41 km extension.

According to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation(DMRC) official the inspection which was scheduled for a day only, the CMRS will now submit the report within a week after which it will be ready for commissioning.

"The CMRS SK Pathak made three trips on the 9.41Km Dilshad Garden to New Bus Adda route during which high speed testing was also conducted" said a DMRC official.

"Prior to that he also inspected the track on trolly right from Dilshad Garden to New Bus Adda" added the official.

This will be the last step before the project is ready for commissioning which is expected any time after 15 February as per GDA.

It was in June 2014 that GDA and DMRC signed MoU for the extension of the presently operational Rithala – Dilshad Garden to New Bus Adda in Ghaziabad.

The 9.41 km route length is entirely on an elevated platform having eight stations in Ghaziabad namely Shaheed Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala, Hindon river and Ghaziabad New Bus

Adda.

The cost of the project has varied since 2014 when the project was conceived.

It was Rs 1,770 crore in 2014 after which DMRC came up with revised DPR pegging the project cost to Rs 2,210 crore.

But three months ago it the completion cost was downsized to Rs 1,781.21 crore, official added.
