Rape victim suffers severe burn injuries

GHAZIABAD: In a shocking case in Masuri of Ghaziabad district, a 30-year-old rape victim on Wednesday suffered severe burn injuries.
However, the victim's family members claiming that it was only an accident.
Police said that over 80 per cent of the victim's body has been burnt and she has been admitted to a hospital.
While the woman's family members claimed it was an accident and chose not to file a police complaint, cops said they are investigating the matter from all possible angles.
"The incident was reported early Wednesday morning from Masuri area. The victim's family reported the matter, after which a police team reached the spot and took the victim to district hospital. From there, doctors referred her to GTB Hospital.
"The victim's condition is critical and we will begin our probe into the matter only after the family lodges a complaint," said a police official.
As per police, the woman had been living with her mother in Masuri for the past few months.
Her husband and three children reside in Vijay Nagar area in Ghaziabad, while the woman works as a house help in Govindpuram area.
Two months ago, while on her way home from her work, the woman was forced into a car and raped by a man identified as Pintu Yadav, a resident of a nearby village. Yadav was later arrested and sent to prison.
Some local residents said that the woman was being pressurised by Pintu's family members to take back the police case.
"Pintu is the brother of the village head. It seems that the woman took the extreme step under pressure from the family members of the accused" said a local resident.
