Rape-murder of Delhi girl: SC asks CBI to conclude probe

The Supreme Court on Monday directed the CBI to conclude its probe into the alleged murder and rape of a 22-year-old BA student-from Delhi on Yamuna Expressway in 2015.

A bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra perused the status report filed by the CBI on the investigation done so far after it registered the FIR in compliance of an earlier order of the apex court.
"The CBI has filed its status report in the case. It is directed that the CBI conclude the probe in accordance with the law," the bench, also comprising Justices A M Khanwilkar and M M Shantanagoudar, said.
The apex court refused to fix a time frame for concluding the investigation as demanded by the mother of the victim.
"The agency is doing its job. There is no need to fix a time frame. Let the status report filed by the CBI be kept in sealed cover," it said.
The Supreme Court had in March directed the CBI to take over the investigation and register the case. It had later directed the probe agency to file a status report on the investigation done so far.
The victim's mother has alleged that her daughter's four friends, who were travelling in the car on August 1, 2015 along with her, remained unhurt. But, her daughter was hit so badly that she died in the hospital.
She had alleged that her daughter had been murdered as she had injury on the left side of the face. She also demanded a probe alleging that her daughter was sexually assaulted.
The incident had happened in Greater Noida and the local police station's SHO had refused to file an FIR then and asked her to file a complaint in Delhi.
