R-day preparations cause traffic jam in Ggn, Noida

Gurugram: The decision to restrict the entry of heavy vehicles due to the preparation of republic day caused traffic blockades in Noida and Gurugram. In Gurugram there was slow moving traffic was witnessed in Sirhaul area of the Delhi- Jaipur highway as trucks were not allowed to move to Delhi.

It must be noted that Gurugram which is a hub of automobile units and ancillaries result in movement of lot of heavy vehicles. What made the situation even bad was the brief spell of rain showers that further slowed down the traffic.

A lot of construction activities are taking place at the Delhi –Jaipur highway that sees the large movement of heavy vehicles. In addition to heavy vehicles there are also eight lakh vehicles that move in NH-8. Besides Delhi, Gurugram is also preparing to have its own republic day.

The full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day parade on Tuesday has caused several traffic jams in parts of New Delhi. Commuters faced difficulties in crossing the DND flyway which connects Delhi with Noida. The jam extended from Ashram Chowk till the DND flyway.

Delhi Traffic Police has started issuing live traffic updates on Twitter while many commuters have complained they reported late to work because of congestion on roads.From Ashram Chowk to DND due to heavy volume of traffic and due to peak hours. Thousands of vehicles enter Noida through the DND Flyway during peak hours, but traffic police is present and regulating the traffic," a traffic officer said.
