Public agencies in Ggn crack down on illegal constructions

Gurugram: A recent raid by the chief minister flying squad at the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) exposed how certain corrupt officials in connivance with the builder issued occupation certificate on illegal constructions. Subsequently, the officials including a joint engineer were held under criminal charges.
After the incident, the public agencies that involved the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) and HUDA have begun to act against errant builder. Recently, notices were issued to Sushant Lok area builders who flouted surface area norms and constructed swimming pool in their builder floors. Notices have also been sent to the illegal PGs that have mushroomed in the city.
Most of the PGs are in an area of 150 to 200 square yards built floors that are more than five storeys. Further, most of the landowners in lieu of greater profit are taking in more tenants than required. Even though notices by the Department of Town and Planning (DTP) have been sent to these landowners in the past, no concrete action has been taken against them. The MCG also on their part have sent notices to the 76 banquet halls. According to sources, more than 90 percent of the halls do not meet the guidelines of the municipal body. Moreover, most of these halls have come up at the 900 metre restricted zone of the Indian Airforce ammunition depot.
Some of the major rules which the marriage halls have to comply with are being located at a main road which is 18 metre and the service road being 12 metre wide. It should be spread in the area of minimum one acre .The ground floor must be around 50 percent of the construction area, the banquet hall must not be 21 metre long and the main entrance should be 1.8 metre lower than the building.
