Protest on full statehood to Delhi: AAP burns BJP's 2014 manifesto
NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday burnt BJP's 2014 manifesto, with the demand of full statehood for Delhi, at 272 wards. During this, the party's legislators, councillors and senior leaders were present.
"When Delhi gets full statehood, Aam Aadmi Party government will ensure jobs and 85% reservation in colleges for the people of Delhi. Every homeless person in Delhi will be provided with a house within 10 years if Delhi is made a full state," said South Delhi Lok Sabha Candidate Raghav Chadha during the protest.
Addressing local residents in a public meeting, he said, "State government in Delhi is powerless. The AAP government has been able to accomplish revolutionary feats despite being only half a state, but there is a lot more than the government wanted to do that it is unable to do since land, police and services do not fall under the state government."
The leader also said that women feel unsafe on the streets of Delhi. "If Delhi Police comes under the Delhi government, the party will ensure that all women and citizens feel safe. To this effect, we are also putting CCTV cameras across the city. Even though Delhi is tainted as Rape Capital of the nation, the seven MPs from BJP have not raised a single issue of women's safety in parliament. They never brought up important issues that affect the people of Delhi," Chadha further said.
