Protest by homebuyers in Noida Sector-78 enters third day

Noida: Hundreds of residents of Antriksh Golf View 2 residential society in Sector-78 of Noida intensified their protest against the builder for the third consecutive day on Sunday.
The protestors, in large numbers, gathered at the main gate of the society and embarked on a protest march against the builder, for deducting water and maintenance charges from their prepaid electricity meters without informing them.
Women, children, and senior citizens also participated in the protest, which went on for hours.
The protestors raised slogans against the builder on failing to provide basic amenities such as electricity and water supply, proper security, and functional lifts.
The protesting buyers alleged that Antriksh has deducted Rs 1,000 from each of their prepaid meters.
"A few days back, the builder sent a notice to all the residents to deposit eight months' advance maintenance charges. We had spoken to the society management regarding the issue and it was decided that a meeting will be held this week between residents and the builder to sort out the issue. However, the builder deducted Rs 1,000 from the prepaid meters of every flat, before the meeting could be held" said a resident.
Residents also complained that the builder is yet to acquire the completion certificate from the Noida Authority and levying such maintenance charges, without the completion certificate, is illegal.
The protestors also claimed that the builder has flouted construction norms by illegally building more number of flats than the approved map.
After the protest intensified later in the day, officials from the society management came forward and assured residents that their money will be returned to them, if it has been wrongly deducted.
The protest was led under the banner of Noida Extension Flat Owner Welfare Association (NEFOWA).
Last Thursday, a similar protest was undertaken by the residents, as they kept the main door of the society locked for over five hours.
