Protest against Stellar builder's group for illegal construction in basement

Greater Noida: Scores of residents from Stellar Jeevan society of Greater Noida West, on Sunday, staged a protest against illegal construction of several commercial spaces in the basement of residential society by the builder. The residents alleged that the builder has illegally constructed several big size rooms in the basement car parking common area and has let them out for sale.

As per the residents, the illegally constructed rooms will become a big security threat for residents, especially ladies and kids. Moreover there will be no registry done for these illegal spaces and upon formation of RWA, their future will be in danger thus affecting the buyer.

On Sunday morning, over a hundred residents, joined by children, elders and women staged a protest at main gate of the society. Later they held a march inside the society with holdings placards and shouting slogans against the builder and the Greater Noida authority. The residents warned to hold a much intensified protest if such an illegal construction is not demolished at the earliest.

"The builder has allegedly constructed many large size rooms in the basement common area which is reserved for parking vehicles. The construction work for other such spaces in the basement is underway while the builder has invited people to buy them. As per building by laws such a construction in the basement of any residential society is illegal and may also cause a big security threat to the residents of society. Moreover, the owner of these store might use them in commercial or other illicit manner which will provide an access to unauthorised persons into society campus thus increasing chances of theft and other criminals activities," said Dheeraj Sharma, a resident of the society.

Annu Khan, President, Noida Extension Flat Owner's Main Association (NEFOMA) feels that the authority and police are hand in glove with the builder as no actions have been taken yet even after several complaints been made to them.
