Principal, two teachers booked for abetment

Noida: Following the suicide of a Class IX girl student of Ahlcon Public School on Tuesday, an FIR has been registered against the school principal and two teachers for abetment of suicide and sexual harassment.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Noida, also suspended a police official for not including the correct sections of IPC while registering the FIR.
The FIR has been registered based on the allegations from the victim's parents that she was sexually harassed by the teachers of her school which led to the suicide.
The Gautam Budh Nagar police registered an FIR under IPC sections 306, 506, 354 and POCSO Act during the early hours of Wednesday against the trio.
"We have collected the CCTV footages from the school. Statements of the family has been recorded and further investigations are being carried out based on their allegations. A notice has been sent to two teachers and the principal of the school," said Arun Kumar Singh, Superintendent of police, Noida.
The Class IX student of the school situated in Mayur Vihar Phase-I was found hanging from a window railing of the common room inside her house and was rushed to Kailash Hospital in Noida's Sector 27 by her parents where the doctors delared her brought dead.
The family, in their complaint, alleged that around three months ago, the girl was under stress and when the reason was asked, she said her Social Studies teacher Rajiv Sehgal touched her inappropriately and threatened to fail her in the upcoming exam if she resisted or raised alarm.
After this, the girl's father even went to the school and met the principal to inform him. However, he said, no action was taken against the teacher.
The victim's family has said that she was in depression as her Science teacher Neeraj Anand deliberately used to give her low marks and both the teachers often criticised her for being a classical dancer, which the girl pursued as her father's legacy.
Meanwhile, the school authorities have denied all the allegations and claimed, "The school had been following promotion policies of CBSE and the deceased had not failed, instead a re-test was scheduled. The allegation of sexual harassment is not true."
"The student's family had not complained to the management about the issue. However, we will cooperate with probe agencies," said Dharmendra Goyal, principal, Ahlcon Public School.
"We tried to report the matter to principal, but he always refused to meet us citing his busy schedule. Once, he assured us that he will look into the matter, but that was also on a very light note. Had he rightly analysed the mental trauma my daughter was going through, she could have been saved," said the victim's mother.
"It is not a suicide. The principal and the two teachers have killed my daughter," the griefstricken mother said.
