Prime accused in two-yr-old burglary held

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Saturday arrested the mastermind in a two-year-old jewellery robbery case in Pashim Vihar. The accused Neeraj was declared a proclaimed offender by court after he went absconding.
On the afternoon of June 29, 2015, a PCR call was received at Paschim Vihar police station that four persons in a silver Hyundai Santro robbed the complainant Suraj Kumar Sharma of Rs 90 lakh cash.
Sharma, an employee of Shagun Jewellers, Paschim Vihar, was on his way to deposit the money in a bank, when the accused rammed his car into Sharma's motorcycle.
Neeraj then hit him with an iron rod and fled with the cash.
Over time, Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested three of the accused. Their interrogation revealed that Neeraj, who was an aspiring singer and former employee of the same jeweller, had been sacked for inappropriate behaviour.
He was also involved in other criminal cases of attempt to murder and robbery, and was declared PO in all of them. Efforts were to arrest him were soon escalated and he was caught this week.
"He started singing in Jagrans and other stages with his father Omprakash. He wanted to join Bollywood as a singer but had no money, and soon turned to crime," said DCP South West Shibesh Singh said.
