Prime accused arrested in six-month-old murder in Jafrabad

New Delhi: A 34-year-old man was arrested for killing a person and trying to burn the body head to conceal the victim's identity.
Delhi Police on Friday said that accused Nadeem, a resident of Jafrabad, had in October 2017 shot dead on Athar Abbas and then poured molten plastic from a chair on hiss head, after he began bleeding profusely from the gunshot.
Police said the accused was having a reward of Rs 50,000 for his arrest and was arrested on the basis of a tip-off that he would come near Crescent Public School in Maujpur,
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Ajit Kumar Singla said that the murder had taken place in 2017.
During their investigation, personnel from Seelampur police station had arrested three accused persons, but Nadeem, the mastermind, succeeded evaded the cops.
It came to light that some construction work was being overseen by Nadeem – who is also a property dealer – at a site in Jafrabad and he had taken Rs 5,00,000 from Athar Abbas and had not returned the money for some time.
Abbas regularly kept aksing Nadeem to return the money.
"Over this issue, a argument took place between Nadeem and Abbas. Nadeem, along with his associates, conspired to eliminate Athar Abbas. On October 4, 2017, they called him from his residence and consumed liquor at the site in Jafrabad," said the DCP.
Police said that after Abbas became partially unconscious, Nadeem shot him in the head from point-blank range and then poured plastic on his head to unsuccessfully stop the bleeding.
They even tried to burn the body to conceal his identity, but later removed it from the spot.
