Potholes spell misery for Ggn residents

Gurugram: The recent rainfall in Gurugram may have cooled the temperatures for the residents of Gurugram but potholed roads have spoilt the fun for the city roads.

The newly constructed roads where thousands of crores have been poured by the public agencies have caved in. Some of the prominent places where the incidents of roads caving in have been reported are IFFCO Chowk. IFFCO Chowk flyover, Hero Chowk, and Cybercity road.

Forget the situation of internal roads even prominent city roads like MG road, New railway road, Mahaveer Chowk and August Kranti Marg busy routes used by thousands of commuters daily are filled with potholes.

Following the poor state of road infrastructure, various residents have taken to social media and are demanding accountability from the public officials.

Not only are their complaints of the poor condition of roads from the private colonies but there are also complaints of the poor upkeep of roads maintained by the public agencies.

Most of the resident bodies, however, claim that there is a lack of proactive action among the public agencies towards the improvement of roads in the city.

In the past residents have pooled money themselves to build and maintain roads for better connectivity "There will not be a single road in the city at present in the city that will free from a pothole. While there are a lot of construction activities happening at the prominent stretch of Golf Course Road and NH-8, the condition of rest of the road continues to be in the poor state," added Rashmi Singh, a city resident.

The state of poor roads in the city has started to take a toll on the citizens of the city. Not only are the poor state of roads proves to be a major risk for commuters but there have been also reports of people sustaining back and neck injuries due to poor roads," added Singh.
