Portion of MG Road underpass caves in

Gurugram: Heavy rainsfall on Friday has once again exposed the quality of construction in the city. Inaugurated in the month of April this year, the public officials from NHAI as well as Gurugram agencies were left in an embarrassing position after MG Road underpass developed cracks and a portion of it collapsed due to the rainfall.

The underpass is being used by thousands of commuters for going to Delhi-Jaipur highway, Sushant Lok and Old Gurugram.

There have been incidents in the past when roads around the underpass have caved in due to the rains.

Commenting on the collapse of the portion of the underpass the officials said that it will be soon be repaired.

The official's area already facing a lot of flak over the collapse of Hero Chowk flyover that was constructed a year-and-a-half. An FIR has already been registered over the incident and an inquiry is being undertaken by the authorities. According to sources the

Earlier on July 23 the ineffective pumping system at the MG Road underpass had resulted in it being completely waterlogged and closed for some time. Not only Hero Chowk flyover but the public officials have also faced criticism over the collapse of the portion of Rampura flyover.
