Police teams formed to arrest absconding men
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has formed several teams to arrest the two absconding accused in the Sail Chairman attack case in Hauz Khas. Anil Kumar Chaudhary, chairman of India's largest state-owned steel producer Steel Authority of India ( SAIL ) was assaulted by some drunk men armed with iron rods in the national Capital on Wednesday night.
Two of the accused have been arrested from the spot but two others managed to give police the slip. Though initially, it looks to be a road rage case but the police are investigating from all possible angles. However, the victim has apprehensions that the assailants were out for a motive and intended to kill him.
Chaudhary was on the rear seat of company's official car and the assailants had reached the Ansal tower on August Kranti Marg, when the assailants, in another car, grazed his car twice. Chowdhary felt it was a pretext to make it look like an accident and the real motive was to dangerous.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, South, Vijay Kumar said that the bike patrol team from the Defence Colony police station saw an assault taking place on the August Kranti Marg. "They immediately intervened and managed to nab two of the assailants, later identified as Lalit of Dwarka and Amardeep of Uttam Nagar, two managed to flee," he said.
Police is now verifying if there was some hidden motive behind the attack or it was a simple road rage case. A case under section 307 of IPC has already been registered. Teams of the police are raiding locations where the two absconding accused could be hiding. The call records of the arrested accused have also being scanned to rule out the possibility of any bigger conspiracy.
