Police recover over 100 mobiles, many arrested

New Delhi: In 15 days, South-West Delhi Police have recovered more than 100 phones which were snatched or stolen in the Capital. Police sources claimed that they were now probing the role of juveniles involved in several cases.
According to police, they have started an initiative where they are tracing phones which were stolen in 2017. During the raid, the police confiscated more than 100 phones in which around six phones were recovered from different states like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The recovered phone included I-Phone and other costly androids phone.
Police sources claimed that the role of drug addicts had been under scanner because they could snatch or steal phone just for the few money. For the whole operation which started some time ago, police team collected the FIRs registered in 2017 and after which more than 2000 IMEIs of the stolen phone were kept under surveillance.
Guided by Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Shibesh Singh, the team under the supervision of ACP (operation) Aditya Gautam and Sub Inspector Arvind started the initiative. There were four parts in the police team, the first team collected the FIRs of lost phones while the next team sent the IMEIs to the service providers, the other team put the phones on surveillance and the raid was done by the fourth team.
Police sources claimed that they made several arrests in the case and notices were sent to some people to join the investigation so that they could check their involvement in the cases. Police have also got few clues which suggest that the juveniles can also be involved in the criminal cases which were being probed by the police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Shibesh Singh told Millennium Post that they were taking several steps to curb the menace of street crime.
Sources further claimed that in 15-15 days time police is sending IMEIs of the snatched phones. After snatching the phones, the criminals switch off the mobile phone for some time so that police can't trace them. After few months, they switch on the mobile phone with a thought that the investigation in the case might
be over.
Police conducted several investigations into the modus operandi of the snatchers after which they took several steps to curb the menace of snatching.
