Police nab 2 robbers after brief gun battle
NEW DELHI: Two criminals who were wanted for an armed robbery have been arrested in Dwarka area here after a brief gun battle.
The Special Cell arrested the two, identified as Rahul Jat and Rahul, on Thursday night, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Yadav said.
Yadav said a trap was laid for the two but they opened fire at the policemen, triggering the gunfight which left Jat with a bullet injury in his right leg. The two were wanted for an armed robbery in Punjabi Bagh and were planning to eliminate one of their rivals.
Both accused persons came in the contact of one desperate criminal Parvesh Maan, a resident of Khera. Pravesh Maan is an active member of Tillu gang and Neeraj Bawana gang. Parvesh Mann along with his associates killed the Bablu khera in July 2018 as Bablu Khera was active member of Gogi Gang and he supplied weapons to gang members of Gogi and Rajesh Bawana gang. After the murder of Bablu Khera, Pravesh Maan and his associates were arrested. In the month of May 2019, Parvesh Maan took parole from Delhi High Court and thereafter his associates were also granted parole from Court.
A trap was laid in Sector-23, Dwarka and after reaching near, the raiding team moved in to apprehend the 2 suspected men. But they opened fire at the police team, a bullet hit on the bulletproof jacket of Constable Manjit. Police team also returned the fire in self-defence and one of the criminals was hit in his left leg. He was identified as Rahul Jaat and the other one was apprehended unhurt.
