Police foil robbery attempt on elderly couple, four arrested

New DELHI: Not always cops get a chance to prevent a crime before it actually takes place. In a unique case in South East Delhi, an elderly couple was saved from being a victim of robbery after the cops foiled their attempt to rob them in Kalkaji.
Four persons have been arrested in this connection with two-country made pistol and one stolen scooty. Interestingly, one of the arrested men is a painter and used to do white-wash in the houses. In the year 2016, he had done white washing work in a house of an aged couple in Kalkaji. After that in December 2016 he went to Dubai for work. He took loan of more than Rs 1 lakh to fund his Dubai trip. But he could not get a good job or remunerative work in Dubai so he returned to India in July 2017. As he was under debt and could not pay back money to his lenders, he was under tremendous pressure from the lenders to return the money.
Rohit was his neighbour in Navjeevan camp. Both of them hatched a conspiracy to rob the aged couple in Kalkaji, where he had worked in 2016 as he was aware of the house and the places the old couples keep their jewellery and valuables. He was aware that they used to keep good amount of cash in their home. Rohit further roped in his two other associates Deepak and Rahulto commit the crime and share the booty.
"They also did a recce of the target house a couple of days ago. Four of them assembled in the park for execution of the crime but due to proactive policing of South East District intelligence they were timely apprehended and a crime against old aged couple was averted," claimed DCP South East Chinmoy Biswal.
