Police control room received over 5,000 calls till morning of January 1

New Delhi: For Delhi Police personnel who were on the street from New Year's Eve to the morning of January 1, it was just like another day even as people all across the State were celebrating to welcome the New Year.
However, Delhi Police personnel, who were deployed for their safety, received more than 5,000 calls related to different crimes in which the police claimed took quick action and made sure for safety and security of residents during celebration.
Police data accessed by Millennium Post (between December 31 evening and January 1 morning) showed that the highest number of police control room (PCR) calls received were of quarrel, numbering more than 4,000.
Eve-teasing calls were 78 whereas there were 10 calls of molestation and 67 calls of women abuse.
Eight rape calls were also there. Domestic violence also hit the list with more than 200 calls, whereas threats to women calls were 13.
The calls related to dowry demand were 3, whereas 14 calls related to kidnapping and four calls of murder were also made to city police.
Police sources said most of quarrels were related to dancing or the playing of DJ.
In some cases there were multiple calls of the same incident, like if any quarrel is there both the parties involved in the argument had made the call to PCR and some calls were also made by the passerby of the area. Delhi Police have taken proper action in the calls.
Before New Year's Eve, police had identified the vulnerable spots related to crime and deployment was done.
In a recent data which was released by city police on Twitter claimed that there was decreased in the cases of crime against women (CAW).
The police claimed that the cases related to CAW reduced to 14.2 percent in the year 2017 and it was due to their initiatives on women safety which help in curbing crime against women and making street safe for the women.
