Pirated NCERT books: FIR registered

New Delhi: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police registered an FIR on Wednesday with regards to the piracy of NCERT books based on a complaint of an investigating official of NCERT itself.

According to the registered report, hordes of pirated printed material including 805 pirated copies of NCERT's 10th Class Mathematics books; 1100 pirated copies of NCERT's 9th Class Hindi (second language) books; and 840 pirated copies of NCERT's 9th Class English textbook were seized during a raid conducted by the complainant along with the ISC Crime Unit Branch. In addition to this, pirated copies of 12th Class Micro-economics and Chemistry-Part 1 books were also found.

The complainant has accused one Rajan Kumar and his business Kumar Associates of infringing copyright, causing financial loss, and damaging NCERT's reputation.

A case under sections 63/65 of the Copyright Act and 420 of the IPC has been registered at Crime Branch.
