PIL claims corruption in toll tax collection

NEW DELHI: A PIL in the Delhi High Court has alleged corruption in the collection of toll tax from commercial vehicles entering the national capital and has sought a court-monitored probe into the issue.
The petition by an association of commercial vehicle drivers has claimed that the three municipal corporations are collecting the toll through a private company which is not following the bye laws for collection of the tax.
The matter came up for hearing before a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar which listed the matter for November 1. The petitioner has sought a court-monitored inquiry into the issue and action against those found responsible.
