Phogat sisters launch waste segregation campaign

NEW DELHI: Commonwealth Games wrestling gold medallists and sisters Geeta and Babita Phogat on Thursday launched a new campaign, 'Let's Go Green and Blue', from the West zone of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) to promote proper segregation of waste and to dispose and re-use waste through recycling process.
The Phogat sisters, brand ambassadors of SDMC, expressed their commitment to promote cleanliness and waste segregation campaign of the Corporation.
They exhorted citizens to concentrate on segregation of their waste, especially kitchen waste, in order to make it suitable for re-use after re-cycling.
An official of SDMC said: "They also administered a pledge at the gathering, with several children, to strictly adhere to segregation of waste and separately put wet waste in green bins and dry waste in blue bins."
SDMC Kamaljeet Sehrawat said that he Corporation's cleanliness campaign is bound to become more forceful with the presence of Phogat sisters.
"Proper segregation of waste enables re-use of the waste for several purposes. The SDMC is working in the right direction for the campaign launched by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi," she said.
The campaign will also be launched in other zones shortly.
