Patients suffer due to doctors' protest

New Delhi: Health services were paralyzed at AIIMS, Safdarjung Lok Nayak hospital including 15 hospitals due to the doctors protests following the kolkata violence and thousand of patients were left in lurch despite emergency services being pressed by the government. More than 1,000 routine surgeries were postponed at these 15 hospitals and many patients who came to the OPD to seek the treatment had to go back. "I came all the way from Aligarh with my ailing mother for the chemotherapy as his father is suffering from the cancer," said the son of the Raman chaudhary, the patient.

While speaking to Millennium Post, relative of a patients rues, " My mother's dialysis was scheduled for today, we were told to go and get it done from some where else.

Safdarjung Hospital's sports injury centre conducts 13-14 surgeries daily, but only one patient was operated upon on Friday. Resident doctors' associations at both the hospitals said the strike will continue on Satudray, if their demands were not met. Another attendant with patients, who come to AIIMS RP Center for the scheduled eye surgery has been denied due to the resident protest.
