Over 500 PCR vehicles soon to be fitted with cameras

New Delhi: More than 500 Police Control Room (PCR) vehicles will soon be equipped with the camera through which the movements of the vehicles can be seen.
Police sources told Millennium Post that they have started the initiative and soon the police personnel will be having body-worn cameras installed for better policing.
According to the police, after the camera is installed in the vehicles it will be easy for the senior officers to get the live updates of PCR vehicles.
Sources further claimed that in the video wall which will be in police headquarter the police officers will keep a tab on the movement and location of the PCR vehicles.
If any major incident happens, the camera installed in the PCR can help the senior police officers to monitor the situation.
"If there is any adverse condition, the senior officer can guide the PCR personnel about the steps they should take," said a police source.
The PCR in-charge will be wearing body worn camera and when he goes to the spot for a case, he will on the camera for the transparency during the investigation.
The police further claimed that the camera will enable the senior officers to monitor live movements on the road and can download the video if necessary.
The police vehicle which guards Tikri border area had been installed with a camera and an application through which DCP outer can take live updates of the movement.
From time to time, the Delhi Police has used technology to improved police visibility so that the street crime can decrease.
PCR vehicles are the first respondent of the incidents. They also do several humanitarian jobs like taking accident victims to hospitals.
More than one lakh persons were injured in 2016-2017 in the National Capital. The police claimed that the reasons behind the injury was different and all of them were shifted to hospital by PCR vehicles.
