Over 50 police stations functioning without a permanent building

New Delhi: More than 50 police stations in the national Capital do not have their own buildings and are working either from temporary structures or police post building, claimed the data of Delhi Police.
Construction work of seven buildings is under progress, with Delhi Police adding that it will be completed shortly.
The Delhi Police data claimed that the city has 194 police stations, of which 133 have their own buildings whereas 54 did not.
Analysis of the data revealed that 16 police stations have been running in police post buildings.
"Around 21 police stations have been running in temporary structures, semi-permanent and porta cabins," the data states.
As many as 13 police stations are functioning in rented premises, while four are running inside premises of other police station buildings.
Delhi Police claimed that in 2017, eight building projects were completed.
There have been constant reviews and liaison work with the concerned executing agencies during the year.
The building projects included six police stations and two police posts, along with 171 staff quarters and a DCP office.
Police further claimed that to increase the satisfaction level of housing for constabulary of Delhi Police, there are plans to construct 4,856 quarters at Dheerpur.
Similarly, maximum numbers of quarters to be constructed in different types of Delhi Police housing projects are being planned.
Police further claimed that construction work for the new police headquarters at Parliament Street is in full swing and 55 per cent of the construction work is complete.
The project would be finished before July 17, 2018.
"Repair and maintenance work of Delhi Police buildings is being done in a systematic manner. The sanction of different kinds of works have been issued," said a senior official from Delhi Police.
