Over 100 cartons of illegal liquor seized in city

New Delhi: Days before New Year, Delhi Police seized more than 100 cartons of illicit liquors from different places in the National Capital. Police claimed they have heightened the security in view of upcoming New Year.
Police said, in the first incident Jaitpur police arrested one person, identified as Aasif, 23. "During search 42 cartons (peti) containing 2016 quarters of Indian made liquor were recovered from the his possession. Chinmoy Biswal, DCP (South East) stated the accused procured liquor from Faridabad and used to sell in the area of Jaitpur village, Madanpur Khadar, Badarpur, Sarita Vihar and Noida. "The seized lot was scheduled to be supplied during Christmas Eve and New Year occasions," said the DCP.
Another bootlegger identified as Amit Hooda (27) was arrested from RK Puram area. Around 60 cartons of illicit liquor were recovered. Mpost
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-west) Milind Mahadeo Dumbere said accused used to purchase the illicit liquor from Haryana at cheap rates and used to transport the same in his car.
