Only smart villages will lead to smart cities: Gopal Rai
NEW DELHI: Only smart villages will lead the development of smart cities, said Development Minister Gopal Rai while addressing Smart Village Conference by Delhi Rural Development Board here on Tuesday. The objective behind organizing the conference is to provide training to members of Village Development Committee and take their opinion to accelerate the development of villages across the national capital. On the occasion, the Minister said that the development committees will be constituted in all 365 villages here and the committee will comprise representatives from all sections, including, women and youth. Further, the committee will organise panchayats to discuss development-related issues of the villages, Rai said.
Two meetings have been held since formation of Village Development Board, during which it approved 452 schemes with an estimated cost of around Rs 558 crore, the minister added."Delhi government's " Mission Smart Villages" is a step towards making all villages in Delhi equipped with facilities like Mohalla Clinics, schools, libraries and all sort of basic facilities like water, roads and sewerage system," said Development Minister.
