One held for shooting at groom in Ambedkar Nagar

New Delhi: A man involved in a firing incident at a wedding in south Delhi's Ambedkar Nagar on November 19, where the groom was injured, has been nabbed, police said on Sunday. Police said the accused wanted to exact revenge on the victim, who had earlier humiliated him.

According to police, two youth told them that while were travelling on their scooty, two other youth on a bike, who were riding on the wrong side if Nala road in Madangir near Shani Mandir, hit them.

The bike-borne duo slapped the complainants and, pointing a pistol at them, told them to run away. The complainants began fleeing the spot, but went back to take their scooty. When they turned back, they saw the accused duo shooting a groom in an oncoming wedding procession and then fleeing.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Vijay Kumar said that the groom Badal told cops he recently had a quarrel with one Faizal, around 25-30 days ago, whom he slapped in public. Badal also told cops that he was informed that Faizal would try to murder him.

Soon, Faizal was apprehended and during interrogation, he spilled the beans. Faizal said that to exact revenge on Badal for slapping him, he and his friends Deepak and Anil hatched a plan to kill Badal.

Acting as per their plan, on November 19, Anil and Deepak approached Badal's procession on their Hero Splendour motorcycle and Anil shot at Badal. Moments before the shooting, Anil and Deepak had collided with the scooty.

Faizal also revealed that he had paid for the crime, while Anil had arranged for the gun.

Police are now searching for the other two accused, who are on the run. Section 120B of the IPC has been added to the FIR in the shooting case.
