One held for cylinder blast which claimed two minors

NEW DELHI: Officials of Delhi Police said on Monday that they have arrested a man who was filling a gas cylinder inside his house, the explosion of which led to death of two children.
The two children died in a fire near their residence in Karawal Nagar area of north east Delhi, after a cylinder reportedly exploded.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Ajit Singla told reporters that the incident was reported on October 10, when that the accused – identified as Santosh – was filling the cylinder.
Due to a malfunctioning during filling the cylinder, a minor explosion took place leading to a fire.
Two minors, aged three years and nine months, who were in vicinity of the fire, suffered critical burn injuries.
Police were told about the incident, after which the injured children were rushed to a hospital. The nine-month-old child died on the same day, while the three-year-old died on Sunday.
The accused was arrested on Monday under appropriate section of the Indian Penal Code.
Police also believe that the accused was filling the gas cylinder, without necessary permission, inside his house.
