One dead as cab rams into truck at Chirag Delhi flyover

New Delhi: An Tata Sumo office cab coming from Gurugram reportedly collided with truck from behind at Chirag Delhi flyover in the wee hours of Saturday morning, claiming the life of one and injuring six of its occupants.
Police said that while 27-year-old Ammar Saed died on the spot, the injured persons, including the cab driver, have been admitted to AIIMS Trauma Centre and are in a serious condition.
Cops said that a passerby made a PCR call that a Tata Sumo had rammed into a truck at Chirag Delhi flyover, with several people stuck in the cab.
Soon, a PCR van from Hauz Khas police station reached the spot, rescued the victims from the mangled van and took them to the hospital.
Saed, a resident of Jamia Nagar's Shaheen Bagh, was declared brought dead to the hospital.
The injured persons include the driver Vashisht Kumar Yadav and the occupants Prabhat Kumar, Mohammad Anas, Mujahid Ahmed, Nazish Akhter and Mohammad Sanaul.
"It is still unclear whether the truck was stationary on the flyover or the driver of the Tata Sumo dozed off behind the wheel when the accident happened.
"Since the truck driver is absconding and the cab driver is still not fit to give a statement, it would be too bit early to say who was at fault," said a senior police officer on Saturday.
Police have registered a case under sections 279, 337 and 304A of the Indian Penal Code and are looking for the absconding truck driver.
