One arrested for doctor's murder in Jahangirpuri

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday said it arrested a man accused who was involved in the murder of a doctor in Jahangirpuri area on November 12. Cops further said that they are raiding three other states to nab the other accused.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) A K Lal said that the prime accused involved in the murder has been nabbed and he has been identified as Vishal Rout.

He added that some of the cash robbed by the accused has been recovered.

"Hunt for his other accomplices is on. Teams are raiding all possible hideouts of the remaining accused in West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and places near Ranchi," said Lal.

He further claimed that they are investigating whether the accused is juvenile.

Police claimed that the 57-year-old doctor was robbed and murdered at his residence by unknown men in north west Delhi's Jahangirpuri.

Cops received a call about the incident around 10.30 am, immediately after which a team rushed to the spot and found the body of the man, identified as Doctor Mukim Ahmed Iqbal, on a bed in his room.

The victim apparently had no visible injury marks on his body. However, since the almirah has been found ransacked, it was assumed that he was murdered for money.

Cops found out that Iqbal lived on the first floor of his clinic in H-block of Jahangirpuri, and they suspected that the murder took place between 7.30 am and 10 am, when Iqbal was alone at his residence.

It was also suspected that the assailants were well aware of the routine of his family and struck at a time when he was alone.
