On World TB Day, NDMC Chest Polyclinic gets new X-ray machine

NEW DELHI: The Health team of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Saturday started a campaign for eradication of Tuberculosis and promoting door-to-door visits in New Delhi area to spread awareness on detection of TB cases and counselling of patients to take their treatment without any hesitation.
On the occasion of World TB Day on Saturday, NDMC council members Abdul Rasheed Ansari, Dr Anita Arya and BS Bhati dedicated a digital X-ray Machine to the patients at NDMC Chest Polyclinic at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg.
Stressing upon the eradication of the life-threatening disease, Ansari said it is curable and its test is very simple and treatment is free of cost.
He said that if medication is taken under the DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short Course) treatment on a regular basis, patients could be rid forever of this disease.
Ansari added that TB is no more a taboo or social stigma, hence patients should come forward for treatment in nearby NDMC clinics, without any hesitation.
Dr Arya urged that people should be made aware of the guidelines and norms to eradicate TB by dissemination of information in this regard to the public at large.
Students of school and colleges could play a vital role for this purpose, she added.
Further, Dr Ranbir Singh Director (Medical Services), said that the NDMC Chest Polyclinic is well-equipped with all modern facilities, such as blood testing, DOTS centre, and has a team of efficient and well-qualified Doctors.
The digital X-ray machine, which was commissioned on Saturday, would provide better quality X-ray films and lower radiation exposure to patients.
