Ola cab driver killed in road rage

Ghaziabad: In a incident of road rage reported from Khora area of Ghaziabad, a 32-years-old OLA cab driver was allegedly beaten to death by a youth after an altercation broke out between them over passage from a narrow road when the victim was parking his car.

According to police, the incident occurred around 11 pm when the victim identified as Lakhan Singh, a native of Aligarh district, was on the way to his after completing his


Singh lived at a rented house in Khora area along with his family of a wife and three children including two daughters and a son.

Satyendra Prakash Singh, Station House officer of Khora police station said that accused Mohit (25), a native of Khora area, hit Singh several times at his head and chest with baseball bat and a brick.

"Both the cars got stuck in the narrow passage of road and an argument broke out between them when Mohit asked the OLA cab driver to reverse his car. Mohit reportedly stepped out of his vehicle and pulled out a baseball bat from his car."

"He hit the window panes of OLA cab with the bat and turned severe on the driver. He hit him several times with the bat and brick following which Singh sustained severe head and chest injuries. A few passerby took the victim to nearby private hospital and informed police," SHO said.

Doctors declared him dead on arrival while police took the body into custody which was handed over to the family after getting the autopsy done," SHO added.

The officer further said that a case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered.

"Based on the incident and complaint filed by victim's family, an FIR under IPC section 302 (punishment for murder) and sections of SC ST act has been registered against the accused."

"He is absconding after the incident while police teams are searching various suspected hideouts to nab him at the earliest," the officer added.

As per a local who wished to remain anonymous, accused Mohit holds a strong family background while a few of his family members are political leaders.

Victim's family have also alleged police for not acting against him because of his family background.
