Off-duty constable shot at, another hit with pistol butt

In a suspected case of road rage, an off-duty Delhi Police constable was shot at while his colleague was pistol whipped by a suspected gangster in outer Delhi's Narela area on Wednesday night.
Both the constables have been referred to a local hospital where they are recuperating from their injuries.
The police are on the look-out for the accused, who they claimed may be associated with extortion based gangs in Narela area.
The incident took place in front of the main gate of a housing colony in Narela.
The two constable Pawan Kumar and Vikash were inside a private vehicle and were on their way for some personal work.
However, their way was blocked by a Fortuner car and they asked the occupant of the car to move it.
The occupant and the two cops had a heated argument over the shifting of the car after which the accused pulled out a pistol and shot Pawan in his leg.
"Eyewitnesses have told us that the Fortuner car had stopped at the gate of the society and the driver was asking for directions. The Constables who had also reached the spot asked the Fortuner driver to move, but the accused flew into a rage and attacked them," said a senior police official.
When Vikash tried to intervene, he was assaulted with the pistol butt and collapsed on the ground.
The accused then fled with his car after which the cops made a PCR call and informed them about the incident.
"They were taken to a local hospital. They are currently stable and are not in danger. We have traced the car's registration details and will apprehend the accused," said a police official, privy to the investigation.
