Nurse raped, looted by two men near NH-58 in Ghaziabad

NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old nurse was dragged into bushes near the Raj Nagar Extension in Ghaziabad and gang-raped by two men, who are reported to be in their early twenties and absconding.
The woman, who works in private a hospital, was returning home on Friday night during heavy rains, when the sexual assault took place barely 200 metres from her home.
Police said that around 9.30 pm, the woman was dragged into roadside bushes at Sihani Gate area near National Highway-58, when the two yet-to-be identified accused allegedly took turns raping and assaulting her.
They also snatched her mobile phone.
It is believed that the two men had begun following the woman on an isolated stretch. The woman initially mistook them to be snatchers. When they approached her, she first tried calling her home but failed.
The two men then grabbed her, forcibly took her to nearby bushes, forced themselves upon her and repeatedly raped her. When she tried to resist fight back, the accused also beat her.
After raping her, the duo left her and fled the spot. In shock, the woman remained in the bushes for a while.
She somehow reached her home and narrated the ordeal to her family, after which the matter was reported to the police.
Ghaziabad Police on Saturday said several teams from Crime Branch and special operation group have joined the investigations and are searching for the accused.
