NSUI releases manifesto for upcoming DUSU election

NEW DELHI: With "Take Back DU" as its motto for the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections in September, the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) on Thursday released its election manifesto.
The manifesto spells out plans and promises of the Congress-affiliated students' wing to make the University a more "democratic, accessible and world-class educational institution."
Highlighting its strategy for the upcoming DUSU elections, NSUI in-charge Ruchi Gupta said in a press conference: "The NSUI manifesto highlights three pertinent aspects that concern every DU student."
"A student, when enrolling into Delhi University for higher studies, aspires for 'Democracy and Freedom on Campus', 'Equal opportunity and affirmative action' and 'DU affordability and accessibility'," she added.
"If elected to power, NSUI will give freedom to students to decide how to spend the DUSU budget. Participatory budgeting, with representatives of college councils and student assembly, will take place," Gupta told reporters.
