NSUI initiates blood donor camp in DU

New Delhi: Over 350 students from different colleges donated blood across 4 campuses in University of Delhi on the first day of blood donation camp, however the donation camp will continue till last of January.
Meanwhile, Congress student wing NSUI has also created a list of blood donors comprising the students of Delhi University to help people in case of accident, distress.
The NSUI's blood donors' directory –to be made available online soon –will have details of more than 7,000 students across the DU colleges. Students from north and south campus as well as off-campus have signed up to provide their blood type.
"It has come at a time when several students, especially non-residents of Delhi, find it difficult to arrange for blood during a surgery, illness or accident," said an NSUI member. He also added that since August 2016, NSUI has been working on this project.
"DU is home to scores of out of station students, who live on their own in this city. Some students fall sick or need blood after a mishap but are often clueless to approach authorities," said Neeraj Mishra, NSUI.
"In such a situation, they turn to hospitals and run around looking for blood donors. The directory will help them find a potential donor within seconds who they can approach and save on precious time," he said, adding that the directory can be accessed by anyone and will also allow students to look for donors for their relatives during emergency.
The online directory will allow students to register as potential blood donors.
